Directions to Victoria Island

Summer Solstice Aboriginal Arts Festival is hosted on historical Victoria Island, centrally located within a short walk or drive from Parliament Hill. You will see signs for both “Summer Solstice Aboriginal Arts Festival” as well as for “Aboriginal Experiences”.

There is VERY limited parking available on the island over the festival weekend, so we do recommend taking one of the many bus routes available, or enjoying a great bike ride down the path.

Bus Access

OC Transpo Route # 8 passes directly over the Portage Bridge and provides the closest stop to Victoria Island, near the Canadian War Museum. You can also access Victoria Island, a short stroll from any of the buses that reach the National Archives or Lebreton Flats. Follow the signs!

Walking/Bicycling

Going west on Wellington Street you would pass Parliament Hill and turn right onto Portage Bridge. While crossing to Gatineau (Quebec) on the bridge “Aboriginal Experiences” is on your right hand side — you will not miss the stage and festival! Just down the walkway on your right and you will reach our entrance.

Driving

We recommend that all Summer Solstice Aboriginal Arts visitors park near the new Festival Plaza at the Canadian War Museum (the location for the Blues Festival and many other events) Our festival is just a short stroll over either Chaudieres or Portages Bridge to Victoria Island.
